week's WTA event in Paris, citing a viral illness.
Estonian Kaia Kanepi also pulled out of the Open GDF Suez tournament due to a
right shoulder injury. She titled in Brisbane last month.
With the subtractions of the German Lisicki and Kanepi in Paris, American
Varvara Lepchenko and Italian Alberta Brianti entered the draw as lucky
losers.
The Open GDF Suez will commence Tuesday. The top seeds are Australian Open
runner-up Maria Sharapova, former Wimbledon runner-up Marion Bartoli and
French Open champion Li Na.
